Learning How to receive a real offering

wpe1.jpg (3590 bytes)

from Benny Hinn's

HONOLULU MIRACLE CRUSADE

Friday Night, February 28, 1997

(first 21/2 hrs. was prep for the ministry and a pitch for finances)

...When you give to Jesus nothing is lost. Nothing. But when you don't you're gonna lose everything one day. Remember this: Only what is done for Christ will last. What's done for self, will not. Now, the Lord has called me to take this message around the world. And I'm doing it. This is not a game for I'm doing it. You know, it's very sad that the world looks at someone like me and other evangelists and think we're in this for the money. You know what I tell them? They're crazy. They're crazy. I can make a lot more money doing something else. Now, if you think I'm in this for the money you're. just as crazy as they are. Somebody say "Amen," really. [Crowd says, "Amen!"]. Who wants to do this for money? You get criticized. And the news media calls you names… (ed. note Mr. Hinn ha said he makes at least 50 mill. a year besides all the travel expenses and kudos)

Lord, I pray you speak to your people tonight to give to your work. Bless them tonight for their obedience. And may your power so descend upon us tonight that not one person will leave this place empty. Not one person will leave sick. Not one person will leave bound. In Jesus' blessed name. And Lord bring your people out of debt. They're so tired of it. Help them pay all their bills in the next few months in Jesus' name. Bless their finances, Lord. Lord, your Word declares that the wealth of the sinner is giving for the just. Lord, we ask you tonight to give us the wealth of the heathen. And we promise you Lord, we'll use it for your glory. We promise you we will use it for the declaration of the Gospel. In Jesus' name. And everybody said: [Crowd responds with "Amens!"]. ...

And ask Him, ask the whole book. Ask God to give you the wealth of the wicked and mean it. Come on. Come on. And promise that you will use it for God's glory. Hallelujah! Hallelujah! And the people said: [Crowd responds with, "Amens"]. And the People said: ...

Make sure to write your name clearly. And everybody that puts your name down we'll send you a free magazine in the mail and put you on our mailing list. And on the back write your prayer request. Now you see where you can use your Master Card, American Express, Visa or Discover Card. Make sure you are using your credit cards, to uh, write clearly your account number and sign it. And like I always say, "Do not write in tongues. Write in English so we can understand." I'm going to ask you to give tonight generously. We need your assistance. We have a crusade coming up in two weeks in South Africa. Again, we take the whole cost. We need your help. I'm praying the Lord will speak to you now and to give generously. I'm asking the Lord to speak to many of you to give a thousand dollars tonight. Some can give even more. The cost is very high for the South African Crusade. I'm asking that you give at least a hundred dollars to help us. And the reason I'm asking boldly is because it is not going to me, so I'm not embarrassed to ask. It's going to the Lord. So do it now. Make checks payable, if you're writing a check, to Benny flydollar.gif (4238 bytes)Hinn Media Ministries or just Benny Hinn Ministries or BH Ministries. If you're giving cash, of course, just put it into the envelope. Now, while we're getting ready ... (ed. note: say goodbye to you money)

If you have nothing to give but you really want to give something to the Lord's work, would you mind standing up a second, please? If you have nothing to give and you want to give something, stand up. All right. Now would you took around and see those standing around and near you? Would someone get up and [stand up and give them something to give to the Lord?

Come on, somebody get up and give them some money so they can give also. Those people standing up who have nothing to give. Somebody give them something to give so they can be blessed! So they can be blessed! .."

Hinn still teaches seed faith which came from Oral Roberts. this is a manipulation tactic of someone giving money in another's soil (ministry) to receive  a multiple blessing from the Lord.  If one does not give it does not happen. and the Gospel will not be preached. God certainly wants to so people do his work and have others be blessed by being part of it. But I don't think he's pleased when it is financed through coercion and manipulation. with such statements as there are 100 people here that God wants you to give $1,000 for your blessing. this becomes a reward system for giving. Those who need a healing or financial help are more than willing to empty their pockets for their needs. This becomes the end justifying the means. If someone not so famous who preached the word correctly got up and asked sincerely for funds for their ministries work. Would they receive the response these men do? Not likely, why? Because they are not showing power, nor are they famous. It appears he who has the most air time gets the money.

As one person put it, people are being used, simple honest worshippers with child like faith are manipulated to give to what seems to be a good cause. Much like those in Jesus day, they came to the temple to worship and had to pay exorbitant prices for their offerings to be accepted. So they exchanged the ones they brought to the Pharisee's and in the process were cheated. Jesus put a whip together and drove them out of the temple. Maybe this is what needs to happen again. Those who work the hardest for their money and have the biggest heart are taken in by the new and improved version of tithes and offerings.

They call it seed/faith giving. But is it? If it was real faith they wouldn't have to ask by begging or coercion. they would trust God for their answer in silence. If these preachers really believed what they were teaching. they would sell their houses and cars all to save a single soul and would get back their 100 fold to boot. But they never give unless its a tax write off or its to the station that is hosting their programs.

About the Miracle Crusade...

Response... While freewill is involved there is a lot of coaxing and promises made. Suggesting $100 at the least to $1,000. He cleverly got people to give double offerings in Hawaii by having them give to others who could not. This is a con plain and simple.

He says " the wealth of the sinner is giving for the just. Lord, we ask you tonight to give us the wealth of the heathen." Then he asks for those in the Crusade to give, what does that mean in light of his statement?

Bible... Matt 11:7-8, Lk. 7:25 As they departed, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John: "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?" But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Indeed those who are gorgeously appareled and live in luxury are in kings' courts.

Look at how Mr. Hinn dresses $1,000 suits $200 plus shoes of  Italian leather, and his wrist and fingers are plentiful with gold and diamonds. He wears a diamond Rolex watch.   He lives in a exclusive Alaqua $685,000 home. He sold his Mercedes for a Jaguar (what a sacrifice). The best of everything is what he requires.

This is no comparison to the way the apostles or Jesus lived. Its the very opposite.
Mt. 8:19-20 Then a certain scribe came and said to Him, "Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go."    And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head." Jesus himself he had no permanent place to lay his head, no permanent home, he constantly traveled. He said if you want to follow me be ready to live like this. He dressed like everyone else, he even said to forsake this world to inherit his kingdom. The rewards are later not now, at least not for everyone. Because if you enjoy it now you certainly will not have it later.

The apostles were no different than Jesus1 Cor. 4:11-12  "To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and homeless. And we labor, working with our own hands."

2 Cor. 6:9-10 "As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold we live; as chastened, and yet not killed;  as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; (spiritual riches) as having nothing, and yet possessing all things."  Paul compared the things of the world with the true spiritual riches he had in Christ.

Time to Wake up Church. Time to clean up our own or we will be judged with them.
