The Question is, … who is Jesus?

Don’t become desperate for answers or leave your life to taking chances?

The biblical answer is seen from Jesus’ own mouth to his learners.

He asked them “Who do you say I am?’  They wondered and gave numerous answers that were circulating that were wrong until Peter was given a revelation from the Father. bursting out loud  You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." (Matt 16:16)

This is the revelation is what anyone must agree on for the free gift of salvation to be received by faith, what the Bible says who Jesus is. It’s not by you believing in a person named Jesus, as many cults and religions have their members do. But what does it mean, him being called the Son of God.

We read in John 5:18, the Jews wanted to kill him because he said God was his Father, making himself equal with God (in nature). A claim no man would dare apply to himself for it was considered blasphemy (if not true).  The term “Son of” meant to ancient Jews as having the same nature as his Father, this expression of  whatever the Father is, so is the Son. Jesus made a precise statement of His nature to the religious leaders of his day and to ours.

Matt 26:63 at Jesus’ trial they demanded, “Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!”

Jesus already told them, not once, but numerous times throughout the time of his ministry.

When He was being crucified they mocked and said to him "You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God , come down from the cross.” (Matt 27:40) He spoke that he would also resurrect himself. Matt 27:43 “for He said, 'I am the Son of God”

Too many are ruled by “if’s” and need to make up their mind, yea or nay whom the son of God is.

Mark 1:1 He was introduced in the gospel accounts (narratives of his life) “ The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God”

All through John’s gospel that came much later than the other three gospels Jesus is called the Son of God (at least 10 times) and the Christ. Along with being the Son of God, the term “I am,” God’s eternal name from the Old Testament is applied 7 times. He is not called a son of God but “the” Son of God. John emphasizes him as the ‘only begotten Son’, to have one conclude there is no other like him. He is unique as man, for He is born as Emmanuel (Mt.1:23) as told to Joseph.

And the angel said to Mary, “that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God” (Luke 1:35). Meaning that is the only son, he is the exact image of God because he existed with the Father from eternity.

‘To answer the question’ one must decide if Jesus is who he says He is.

1 John 5:4-5 “And this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God .”

Our faith confesses what we understand as the truth from the Scripture itself.

1 John 4:15 “Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.” This confession comes from who we understand who Jesus is.

1 John 5:9-10 “He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son.”This testimony is all through the Scripture beginning with John who would baptize him, “And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God."(John 1:34)

To Nicodemus he spoke a life changing conversation “ We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness.” John 3:11-12 )

Jesus tells the peoples “And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me.” (John 5:37)

Later to his disciples in John 15:26 “The Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.”

Just as Jesus was sent from heaven he explains that has the authority to send the Holy Spirit who from the father that testifies of him (not the father).

Eternal life is in his son for those who understand and received him for whom He is.

1 John 5:12-13 “ He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.”

1 John 5:20-21 “A nd we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true , in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.”

Acts 8:37-38 Then Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God ."

The Christ, messiah who is Jesus, is the only begotten Son of God sent by the Father. There are no others.

When unbelieving Paul was converted “he preached the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God” (Acts 9:20).

2 Cor. 1:18-20 “ But as God is faithful, our word to you was not Yes and No. For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us --by me, Silvanus, and Timothy--was not Yes and No, but in Him was Yes. For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.”

All who spoke the truth preached Jesus as the Son of God; who is God who became man, who died for our sins, 3 days after resurrected and sits at the right hand of power as the mediator for all mankind. This is seen through the book of Acts and the epistles. This is the Jesus one must believe in to be the recipient of the free gift of eternal life.

Matt 11:27-28 “ All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.”

If you still lack understanding ask him to reveal himself to you in his Word, He will.
