Andrew Wommack’s Unbiblical distorted interpretations of Scripture

Pt2. Wommack promises for all to be healed -- if they want to. But does God?

…It’s one thing to pray and believe God for a healing when you’re sick, but it’s even better to believe God not to get sick. To walk in divine health.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqDg08OFU3c

“God has already placed His healing power within us, and it is now under our authority. It isn’t up to God to determine who receives healing; it’s up to us!” (Andrew Wommack, Faith For Healing Is Based On Knowledge.)

Womack teaches, “ It’s never God’s will for us to be sick; He wants every person healed every time AWM, “Faith For Healing Is Based On Knowledge” http://www.awmi.net/extra/article/healing_knowledge)

The question he and the rest of the word faith teachers never explain correctly or sufficiently is how did we get sick in the first place if healing is part of the atonement?

We may be under a new covenant but nowhere does it say God will heal you in everything. If you lose a leg or an arm, or even a finger there is no promise he will definitely restore it. Apart from God’s intervention by His grace Christians get sick, hurt and die like anyone else. This is completely ignored on purpose by Wommack. Why? Because of his heretical word faith theology that rules his mind.

God does heal, he just does not heal everyone, and If anyone claims they know the mind of God in this matter they are lying.

Wommack claims that “ God’s Word is very clear that sickness and disease are oppressions from the devil.” Andrew Wommack (2010-08-10). You’ve Already Got It! So Quit Trying to Get It ” (Kindle Locations 1282-1283). Harrison House LLC. Kindle Edition).

Ignoring we live in a fallen world

“Sickness has nothing to do with God! Submit to the things of God, and resist the things of the devil. It’s that simple. To believe that God allows or approves of Satan’s actions defies the logic of James 4:7. It eliminates our responsibility to resist and places ultimate responsibility for everything back on God.

“You must believe God always wants you healed. It’s so simple, it takes help to misunderstand. But sadly, most Christians receive plenty of help from religion in misunderstanding this. Look at it this way: If God wanted you sick, for whatever reason, then why visit the doctor or take medication? It would seem more logical to allow the sickness to run its course so God’s purpose could be accomplished. Of course I think that’s foolish, and hopefully, so do you .

It is God that heals every single person, every time. And the reason that it will not happen is not because God is in default, but that his representatives do not operate in the fullness of what he has acquired."

In other words it is we who prevent God form using his power for blessing us. The fact is ,we live in a fallen sinful world that affects believers as it does non -believers.

The Bible teaches we have three fronts that oppose us, the world, the flesh or the devil But when you do not have a Christian view of suffering and pain, explained by the fact that we are still fallen creatures (we still die) in a fallen world waiting for its redemption (Romans 8:19-23).

Let’s understand Wommack claims it’s “false teaching” to claim that “God is the One who causes people to die” or that He “puts sickness on you to humble you for some redemptive purpose and to perfect you through all this suffering.” Andrew Wommack (2010-07-02). God Wants You Well (Kindle Location 309). Harrison House LLC. Kindle Edition. )

Who did Peter pronounce judgment on? Annanias and Sapphira, was it from the devil or God?

Wommack has the view “If it’s good it’s God, if it’s bad it’s the Devil.

Apparently God doesn’t judge, correct, or punish. The Bible says, “ Judgment begins at the House of God” (1 Peter 4:17). Where would we be without it?

Wommack says God doesn’t do “bad” things, only Satan does, “and if you think God has a hand in all of this stuff, then it renders you passive.”

God can use various means, trials and even sickness to chasten and correct us. There are those who take the position, like Wommack that only Satan brings sickness, kills and judges. This is completely false. God must allow it first for it to even be possible to happen. But Wommack does not understand the sovereignty of God. In the book of Job we see the devil asking permission first for him to attack Job. God allowed it for the purpose to test Job’s faith; but God limited him from taking Job’s life. God is ultimately in control of all things, not just some things in a believer’s life, all things, He is the self determining factor for anything to happen.  In fact, it was God who initiated the challenge by asking Satan if he had considered His servant Job (Job 1:8, 2:3). Chapter 1 points out that Satan attacked Job because of his righteousness, not for his sin. This example should dispel the teaching that only those who sin suffer, and the saints will always prosper.

If sickness is caused by Satan what is death caused by? The fact is, both are cause by sin which is still present among believers.

Does God judge?

God does judge, he does allow disease and suffering. Says who? God himself.

God has and does continue to use sickness to judge along with other things. Lev. 26:14-16 'But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments, and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant, I also will do this to you: I will even appoint terror over you, wasting disease and fever which shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart.” V:25 “ And I will bring a sword against you that will execute the vengeance of the covenant; when you are gathered together within your cities I will send pestilence among you; and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.”

Those who make their ministry about supernatural healing, divine health use Exodus 15:26: “For I am the LORD who heals you.

But the whole Scripture read in context straightens out any misconceptions, “ If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.”

The word “disease” is translated from the Hebrew word Khalah which can also be translated “ to be afflicted, to be grieved, to be weak, to be infirm.” God heals and he afflicts. If you do not want to accept that go argue with the one who said it.

The very verse the faith healers use as a promise for healing actually tells us God also afflicts with sickness, but one needs to read it in context. In fact it is made more explicit in Deuteronomy 32:39: “ Now see that I, even I, am He, and there is no God besides Me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal.

You mean it is not the Devil! That’s what God says. In fact in Exodus 4:11, where the Lord speaks to Moses: “ Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the LORD?”

Wommack puts aside God’s ways and justice. His view of God is that he can only do good to us when God says how he works with us as his children. Heb.12:7-9 “for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?”

Chastening is used for correction, to bring one back under obedience. It may come in a variety of ways. Even David said God afflicted him Ps. 119:67 “Before I was afflicted I went astray, But now I keep Your word. v:71 “It is good for me that I have been afflicted,

David attributed his affliction to God’s hand, not the Devil’s. Does the Devil afflict? He certainly does, but he can’t afflict any saint without the Lord’s permission. God is in control of the believer’s life, we are not controlling all that happens to us. We should be confident that it is God who watches over his children in every condition of life they are in.

Proof of Healing doctrine

Since Wommack has made some grandiose claims on healing we should have some verifiable examples… Or one would have to accept that he just another false teacher on healing.

No healing for the Covid Virus

“Healing is here conference” was a livestream event. Yet we read several members of his staff got sick from the Coronavirus and were not healed by Wommack.

Wommack tells us some of his staff and attendees acquired COVID-19 during their last conference.

https://krdo.com/news/2020/07/24/covid-19-outbreak-from-andrew-wommack-ministries-bible-event-ignites-concern/b

covid was found among his gathering and were not healed!

And they even social distanced; why do that?

Wommack threatened to sue the state of Colorado after a cease-and-desist order was sent his way, expressing concerns that his event, the Summer Family Bible Conference, which was held in late June-early July, 2020 would spread Coronavirus.
Fatal COVID-19 outbreak linked to Colorado religious group suing state over limits on gatherings
The event proceeded and 34 people were infected with the virus, with 15 employees and staff members testing positive, along with another 15 conference attendees and four others. None of these were instantly healed.

Wommack said " Well, you know, we’re supposed to see ourself in Christ… and I just can’t even picture Jesus wearing a mask as he goes around praying for people."

Neither can I  but that's not the point. What we see is talk but no action.
