The choice of Christ in you, the hope of Gory

or the absent of hope from the Watchtower organization.

NASB I Jn 4:15 “Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God”

NWT- I Jn 4:15 Whoever makes the confession that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, God remains in union with such one and he in union with God.”

Gr. meno -dwelleth a primary verb; to stay (in a given place, state, relation or expectancy):

KJV-- abide, continue, dwell, endure, be present, remain, stand, tarry (for), X thine own.

The Watchtower is famous for changing their position and the Bible words and meanings. They have added words and taken out words to support their peculiar doctrines. When it comes to the Scriptures on the Holy Spirit they are consistent with this platform.

The New World Translation’s word remains is not the Scripture, the word union is not there either! These words were added by their translators to change the meaning.

Lets look at their doctrine of the Holy Spirit to understand why they must change these words.

Holy Spirit" merely refers to the "invisible active force of the Almighty God that moves his servants to do his will" ("Let God Be True," rev. [1952], p.89).

The Scriptures themselves unite to show that God’s holy spirit is not a person but is God’s active force by which he accomplishes his purpose and executes his will” (Aid to Bible Understanding, Brooklyn: Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, 1969, 1971, 1543).

“The Bible’s use of ‘holy spirit’ indicates that it is a controlled force that Jehovah God uses to accomplish a variety of his purposes. To a certain extent, it can be likened to electricity, a force that can be adapted to perform a great variety of operations” (“Should You Believe in the Trinity?”)

THE Bible's use of "holy spirit" indicates that it is a controlled force that Jehovah God uses to accomplish a variety of his purposes. To a certain extent, it can be likened to electricity, a force that can be adapted to perform a great variety of operations… The action of the spirit in such instances is like that of radio waves transmitting messages from one person to another far away. (website- The Holy Spirit—God's Active Force http://www.watchtower.org/e/ti/article_07.htm

Hebrew Scriptures use the term “spirit of God”—God’s active force” (What the Bible Really Teaches)

“God used this holy spirit, or active force, to create the earth and all life upon it. (Genesis 1:2)” (website- How You Can Understand the Bible)

The Jehovah Witnesses Holy Spirit is not God but a force like in Buddhism.

“The holy spirit means the invisible power of Jehovah, holy because he is holy."

(The Harp of God, 1928 ed., pg. 15)

So they have a holy energy?  Why would a force that is non personal be holy like God, what makes God holy is who he is, His attributes, His nature. According to the Jehovah’s Witnesses the Holy Spirit is not a who, but an it.

“In harmony with this is the Bible's general usage of "holy spirit" in an impersonal way, such as paralleling it with water and fire. (Matthew 3:11; Mark 1:8) (website -The Holy Spirit—God's Active Force)

Yes, but the Bible also uses the Holy Spirit in an personal way. The bible also uses the same kind of metaphors for Jesus. Does this mean he is not a person too? It says Jesus is a door, He is called a vine, a door, a mother hen, the Lion of the tribe of Judah. Their arguments prove nothing when one really goes under the surface and uses the Bible definitions.

However, Russell the founder of the Jehovah’s Witnesses would be rejected today by them. Here is what he wrote: "We acknowledge that the personality of the Holy Spirit is the Father and the Son; that the Holy Spirit proceeds from both, and is manifested in all who receive the begetting of the Holy Spirit and thereby become sons of God" (Studies in the Scripture, Vol. 7, p. 57)

Is God a non personality? This is crucial because the Bible says God is Spirit and in their own publication the Finished Mystery they define the “…Lord as a Spirit Being” (p.19)

The Watchtower organization writes "Is the Devil a personification or a person? ... Can an unintelligent 'force' carry on a conversation with a person? ... only an intelligent person could. . . . 'Every quality, every action, which can indicate personality, is attributed to him in language which cannot be explained away."' (Awake 12/8/1973, p. 27)

Exactly: their own literature contradicts their doctrine and the Bible.

The bible says: Let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” (Rev.2:7; this is said 7 times in the book of Revelation)  The spirit can speak? Does that make him intelligent or non – intelligent? We speak, do we have intelligence?

NWT "However, when that one arrives, the spirit of the truth, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak of his own impulse, but what things he hears he will speak and he will declare to you the things coming" (John 16:13).

So not only does he speak but he also hears. Do we hear? Does this mean we have intelligence?

1 Cor. 2:10-11 “For to us God revealed {them} through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. For who among men knows the {thoughts} of a man except the spirit of the man, which is in him? Even so the {thoughts} of God no one knows except the Spirit of God.”(NAS)

Here the Scripture compares mans spirit knowing our thoughts and the Holy Spirit knowing the thoughts of God that are infinite. The Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit's anointing enables individual Christians to understand God's Word and properly apply it to their lives (John 16:13; 1 John 2:27), how can a force with no intelligence do this?

NWT - 2 Cor.3: 17 Now Jehovah is the Spirit; and where the spirit of Jehovah is, there is freedom. 18 And all of us, while we with unveiled faces reflect like mirrors the glory of Jehovah, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, exactly as done by Jehovah [the] Spirit.”

Here the NWT translation says Jehovah, who is God is the Spirit, which is the Spirit of Jehovah. So they are confused by their own doctrine.

The Watchtower teaches the Holy Spirit is not inside a person. They are “in union”

Watchtower teaches that the "Other Sheep" cannot have Holy Spirit. That this is the anointing only the "Little Flock" has, because they alone are born again.

The Watchtower calls God a person because He has the attributes of a person.

the Watchtower does not consider the Holy Spirit a person because He is spirit

"As for the "Holy Spirit," the so-called "third person of the Trinity," we have already seen that it is, not a person, but God's active force. (Judges 14:6) John the Baptist said that Jesus would baptize with holy spirit even as John had been baptizing with water. Water is not a person neither is holy spirit a person. (Matthew 3:11) What John foretold was fulfilled when God caused his Son Christ Jesus to pour out holy spirit on the apostles and disciples during the day of Pentecost 33 C.E., so that "they all became filled with holy spirit." Were they filled with a person? No, but they were filled with God's active force" - Acts 2:4,33. (The truth that leads to eternal life, 1968, pg. 24)

Lets look at how they describe a spirit being ,"Is the Devil a personification or a person? ... Can an unintelligent 'force' carry on a conversation with a person? ... only an intelligent person could. . . . 'Every quality, every action, which can indicate personality, is attributed to him in language which cannot be explained away."' (Awake 12/8/1973, p. 27)

"Nothing in this and similar texts involves the thought of a personal Holy Spirit . .  .(Studies in the Scripture , Vol. 5, p. 244)

THE BIBLE states the Holy Spirit is “IN US”

The Bible says we have become the temple of God and their own translation agrees

NWT 1 Corinthians 6:19 What! Do YOU not know that the body of YOU people is [the] temple of the holy spirit within YOU, which YOU have from God?

Within YOU

NWT 1 Thessalonians 4:7: “For God called us, not with allowance for uncleanness, but in connection with sanctification. So, then, the man that shows disregard is disregarding, not man, but God, who puts his holy spirit in YOU.”

NWT -2 Timothy 1:13-14 Keep holding the pattern of healthful words that you heard from me with the faith and love that are in connection with Christ Jesus. This fine trust guard through the holy spirit which is dwelling in us.”

I Jn 2:20-22,27 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know. I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie is of the truth. And as for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him. (NAS)

NWT v.27 And as for YOU, the anointing that YOU received from him remains in YOU

THE HOLY SPIRIT CAN FEEL AND HE TEACHES US

John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.”(NAS)

Can you be taught by a force, an inanimate energy that has no intelligence? The qualifications for a person are that they have a mind, a will and emotions. God has these qualities and mankind that is made in the image of God in man.

Acts 13:2 And while they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."(NAS)

The Holy Spirit spoke in intelligible words and sets apart men to work for himself, which can only be God. 1 Cor.2:11: “But the one and the same spirit works all these things dividing to each one as He wills.” Only a being with a mind and intelligence is capable of doing this.

Ask the Witness, "When was the last time electricity or energy spoke to you?" It is obvious only an intelligent person can communicate in language.  If the Holy Spirit is God's impersonal "active force", why does he speak of himself as "I" and "me" in Acts 13:2 and not it?  Paul uses the word Spirit as the pronoun He, giving Him identity (John 14:16; 15:26; 16:8, 13, 14).

If the Holy Spirit is an impersonal active force, how could he be referred to as "he" and "him" in Jn. 16:7-8 and Jn. 16:13-14; Bear witness – Jn. 15:26; feel hurt – Isa. 63:10; Be blasphemed against - Mk 3:29; Say things – Ezek. 3:24, Acts 8:29, 10:19, 11:12, 21:11, Heb.10:15-17, Rev 2:7; Be outraged - Heb 10:29; Search -1Cor 2:10; Comfort - Acts 9:31; Be loved - Rom 15:30 ; Be lied to and be God - Acts 5:3-4?

Ephesians 4:30 states, "And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God."

Any reasonable person should realize you can only grieve a living being that has personal feelings. Ask a Jehovah's Witness, "How can you grieve or bring sorrow to an impersonal force like electricity?"

Isa 6:8-9 “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: "Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me." And He said, "Go, and tell this people: 'Keep on hearing, but do not understand; keep on seeing, but do not perceive.' Paul in the New Testament applies this scripture giving the credit to the Holy Spirit for saying it.

Acts 1.16: and said, "Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled which the Holy Spirit spoke long ago through the mouth of David concerning Judas, who served as guide for those who arrested Jesus

Acts 8.29: The Spirit told Philip, "Go to that chariot and stay near it."

Acts 10:19 “While Peter thought about the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Behold, three men are seeking you.”

Acts 11:12 "Then the Spirit told me to go with them, doubting nothing”

Acts 28:25-27 "The Holy Spirit spoke rightly through Isaiah the prophet to our fathers, "saying, 'Go to this people and say: "Hearing you will hear, and shall not understand; and seeing you will see, and not perceive; For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, so that I should heal them."

I Tim 4.1:The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits

Heb.3.7: “So, as the Holy Spirit says: "Today, if you hear his voice

All of these prove that the Bible upholds the Spirit as a personal being every bit as personal as the Father. And has first person communication. In Rev 22.17 “The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” If the Spirit is impersonal then so is the Bride

The Spirit is also attributed to being the author of holy scripture which gives him communication skills which require intelligence. In Rev.14:13 we find the Spirit speaks from heaven saying ”write.” All these characteristics give personal identity to the Holy Spirit which makes him a person. Rev 2-3: "Let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches," this is repeated 6 times after to each church.

The Jehovah’s Witnesses lack of the Holy Spirit

What John foretold was fulfilled when God caused his Son Christ Jesus to pour out holy spirit on the apostles and disciples during the day of Pentecost 33 C.E., so that "they all became filled with holy spirit." Were they filled with a person? No, but they were filled with God's active force" - Acts 2:4,33” (The truth that leads to eternal life, 1968, pg. 24)

According to the Watchtower they had an energy - electricity running through them.

The Holy Spirit is identified as a Person by John, using in the Greek the masculine ekeinos in John 16:13, a personal being with a self-identity. Jesus called him the Helper (Greek- Paracletos) another like himself. If Jesus is a person than so is the Spirit.

Jesus said He would ask the Father to send another comforter (Greek- Allos paracletos), which means another of the same kind. Notice the Spirit is called a He. Look at the word for “He” in this Scripture, and the others. The Father and Jesus are called He and so is the Spirit. Greek scholars Arndt and Gingrich define the word allos (another) as different from the subject who is speaking. The word allosanother” is used 34 times in Johns Gospel, every time it is used with personal subjects. It shows a difference from one speaking or asking another. All are indicative of individual persons.

Ask the Jehovah witness was Jesus a person or a force? If the Holy Spirit is only an impersonal force, then He cannot be another of the same kind. If the Holy Spirit is only an impersonal force, then He cannot be another of the same kind. He is called the comforter; this would be a hard thing to do if the Holy Spirit is an impersonal force.

In Jn. 17:8: Jesus says “For I have given to them the words which You have given Me.” John 16:13: “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on his own authority, but whatever He hears he will speak, and He will tell you of things to come. The Spirit will not speak of himself but what He hears He will speak.” The Spirit hears from Christ and then speaks to us.

“The apostle Paul, as one of the "little flock," wrote: "The spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are God's children.” (THE TRUTH THAT LEADS TO ETERNAL LIFE 1968 p78) The little flock are the 144,000 not the great crowd.

In 1930 Rutherford began to teach Jesus came to the "temple", the "holy spirit" was taken away: By his spirit, the holy spirit, Jehovah God guides or leads his people up to a certain time, and thus he did until the time when "the comforter" was taken away ... in 1918. (Preservation, 1932, pp. 193, 194.)

"The Holy Spirit was taken away in 1918 when Jesus came to the Temple" (Salvation 216-) this was the year the dead 144,000 were resurrected into heaven.

In other words the Jehovah’s Witness that comes to your door does not have the Holy Spirit, only the 144,000 do. Therefore according to the Bible they are not redeemed or in relationship to Jehovah God.

Russell, the founder said The ordination of God is the begetting of the Holy Spirit If any are preaching without this ordination, they are doing something that they are not authorized to do” (The Finished Mystery p.57)

Since none of the Jehovah’s Witnesses have the Holy Spirit except for the 144,000 they should not be proclaiming their gospel door to door, at least according to their founder’s teaching

So they teach "[God] does not impart his holy spirit and understanding and appreciation of his Word apart from his visible organization" (Watchtower July 1, 1965 p.391)

Actually, He does not impart him to them anyway. The problem -- only the 144,000 have the Holy Spirit so most of those in his organization do not have God’s Spirit  by their own teaching construct (even if he was available to them). Since only 10,000 slots are left of the 144,000 heavenly class. Other Jehovah Witnesses must depend on them for everything.

But what does the Bible teach? Is the Watchtower preventing their own members from having a relationship with God?

Eph 2:18-22 “For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.” Through who? Jesus; he is the mediator (which they teach is only for the 144,000)

On this statement alone we find that they do not have a relationship to Jehovah because the Bible says it is through the Spirit which they do not have.

V.21-22 ‘in whom the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.”

Without the Spirit in you have no access to God, you are not part of the household of God.

Eph 1:13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation-- having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, (NAS)

Without the Holy Spirit you are dead, there can be no difference in your life

This is one of the most horrific teachings I have ever heard.

The 144,000 are the only ones that have the Holy Spirit but the Bible teaches that the whole church has it or you are not his body.

Rom 5: 5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”

In the New covenant, God takes residence inside the believer “you are the temple of God,”  “the Spirit of God dwells in you?”  just as he did the real temple and tabernacle in the Old Testament (1 Cor. 3:16; Rom 8:9; Jn.14:17) “Christ in you, the hope of glory (Col 1:27; 2 Cor.13:5). If Christ does not reside in you then you have no hope

God indwells believers, 2 Cor.6:16: “For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” If God says He will be in us and it is the Holy Spirit who is in us: that makes the Holy Spirit what?

John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

He the helper will teach us. That is impossible if he has no intelligence.

Eph 5:9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),

Gal. 5:22- But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” …These are qualities of God of whom man is made in his image. V. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Does God want us to walk in an impersonal force to exhibit these characteristics?

Do these things listed sound like a person? Why is the fruit have the qualities of God if the spirit is just electricity?

Funny that they say “Many who believe in God think of him as a force, not as a person. (Website -Who Is God?)

“…Jehovah’s organization alone, in all the earth, is directed by Gods Holy Spirit or active force” (Watchtower.p.402 Sept.1, 1973)

I agree, they alone have an impersonal force guiding them.

The Bible teaches Rom. 8:14: “For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” Jehovah’s Witnesses are led by the organization that has a spiritual force.

We are worship God in spirit and in truth…What it comes down to is the Jehovah’s Witnesses worship a god of forces.
