A Book review on Mary Baxter's:

A DIVINE REVELATION of HELL

Jesus Christ spoke more on hell than even heaven. Most were warnings of what to do so one would not end up there. There is only one time Jesus gives a detailed description of what Hell is like, this is found in Lk.16 where he describes a person who is there. There are other times where he says there is weeping and gnashing of teeth, torment and it is hot.

In 1983 Mary Baxter became an ordained minister of Full Gospel Church of God in Taylor, Michigan. She now ministers with the National Church of God in Washington, D. C.

Her story written in the book is about her experience in Hell as well as heaven. She says her calling is specifically in the area of dreams, visions and revelations, so she fits well into the Charismatic model today.

In 1976 while she was living in Belleville, Jesus appeared to her in human form, in her dreams, visions and revelations. For a period of 40 days, Jesus took Mary Baxter to hell (and heaven) where she describes her experience of what sinners without Christ would feel.

This book is sobering and if the message is believed would probably scare people into accepting Christ. But this is not the issue being focused on. What is concerning is whether it is true or not, because she claims it is from Jesus personally; not if this experience happened, but if it is TRUE. Baxter's purpose is stated: to let people know there is a hell. By saying this and writing the book she is inadvertently showing that the Scripture is ineffective in its ability to communicate this. While she seems to want to genuinely save souls, she teaches contrary to God’s word and has much extra biblical revelation that is questionable at best. At worst it challenges the sufficiency of the Bibles ability to warn, and explain the consequences of being a non- repentant sinner and accepting Christ as savior.

She firmly believes Jesus has commissioned her to write this book, that it was her purpose in life.“ These are the words that Jesus spoke to me. He instructed me to write them and put them into a book and to tell them to the world. These words are true, These revelations were given to me by the Lord Jesus Christ…” (p.105). This definitely makes this a revelation on equal status with the Bible. “In the visions, I was given revelations about the body of Christ, the ministry of the sons of God, the children of the beast and the ultimate return of Christ. “Later, you may reveal them,” He said, “but not now (p.141)”

Her Pastor in the foreword of this book writes. “Unlike other books, I believe that the Holy Spirit has brought this writing into being for time and eternity. The experiences and the message are of utmost importance to the body of Christ. I believe that God's anointing will rest upon this book and minister to every person who reads these contents.”

Since when does God anoint books other than his Holy Word (the Bible). From the start this book is claiming something that the Bible claims for itself EXCLUSIVELY. Only God’s word is eternal and it was completed over 1900 years ago. God’s divine Revelation of everything ended with the Book of Revelation. It is the Scriptures that are said to be our guide in instruction (2 Tim.3:16). This right away is concerning for anyone who recognizes the ancient writings of the apostles as Christ's revelation for all time. For the apostle Paul is one of two apostles that went to heaven and he said we are to learn not to think beyond what is written (1 Cor.4:6). Her divine revelation goes beyond the pages of the scripture, beyond the last apostle’s revelation of Jesus Christ revealed in his glory. It counters what Paul implicitly taught in not thinking beyond what is written (by the apostles) to the church for their living a life unto God.

Baxter writes “I see now that the Lord was preparing me to write this book when even as a child I had dream about God. After I was born again, I had a very strong love for the lost and wanted to see them saved.” This very well could be her motivation and sometimes ones desires can certainly lead or drive them to their own conclusions. I believe this has a part in this story that has made her go beyond the Bibles revelation on heaven and hell.

“After the Lord appeared to me in 1976 and told me that I was chosen for a special assignment, he said “my child, I will manifest myself to you to bring people out of darkness into light. For the Lord God has chosen you for a purpose: to write and make a record of the things I will show you.”

Here she claims to have a personal appearance of the Lord Notice He states I will and then speaks as if another person, “For the Lord God has chosen you” This is more than strange that the Lord would appear and speak in the 2nd person. So who is actually communicating this to her? He then promises something that he never promised even to an apostle, to bring people out of darkness by his being manifest to her.

For Paul in his testimony of being chosen an apostle says God would send him, 'to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.' (Acts 26:17-18). this was done by his preaching the forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ, not through a message of heaven or hell (Acts 13:38).

Several times in the book “make a record” is repeated much like what was said to John in the Revelation. (Rev.1:11,19; 2:1,8,12, 14:13; 19:9; 21:5)

Baxter claims 10 visits to heaven (the best-seller list in CBA Marketplace, October 1998). More visits than Paul, John and all the apostles put together. She states in her other book The Divine Revelation of Heaven, “I saw the same scene that John saw in his vision that he described in Revelation” (p.49 A Divine Revelation of heaven). But in the course of her writings she actually sees more and describes further than what John saw. This makes her a greater revelator than what is written in the Scripture by the apostle. This has one choose whom they will believe, a lesser revelation or one that has more.

In the introduction she writes “I am going to reveal unto you the reality of hell, that many may be saved, many will repent of their evil ways before it is too late.”

“Your soul will be taken out of your body, by me, the Lord Jesus Christ, and transmitted into hell and other places that I want you to see. I will also show you visions of heaven and other Places and give you many revelations.” (Introduction to her book A Divine Revelation of Hell

Many NEW revelations he gave her and these are what we will be looking at.

To Kathryn from Jesus “For this purpose you were born, to write and tell what I have shown and told you. For these things are faithful and true. Your call is to let the world know there is a hell and that I, Jesus, was sent by God to save them from this torment.”

This is not an unfamiliar claim, many have said they were called to present miracles or a new understanding of a teaching. But this again is exclusive that she is to proclaim there is a hell. This is contrary to what Jesus said as the great commission to “proclaim the gospel” to keep people from hell. One should proclaim what the Bible teaches, not what it does not teach. The mystic Emanuel Swedenborg lived in the 18th century believed he too had trips to both heaven and hell. But his would be conflict with Baxter’s story as well as others.

Joseph Smith the prophet of the Mormons wrote of his visions that certainly went beyond the Scripture and he convinced himself as well as 10 million people  now living today that he spoke the truth. so as Christians who believe Jesus Christ we must bring into question what she is writing.

It begins with her “ praying in the Spirit for days when she felt the very presence of God. Then a “brilliant light illuminated the room where I was praying, and a sweet and wonderful feeling came over me.” She hears a voice that said, “I am Jesus Christ, your Lord, and I wish to give you a revelation to prepare the saints for My return and to turn many to righteousness.”

Praying in the spirit for days in Charismatic circles means tongues and is usually coupled with an experience. When this light and being show up there is no testing of this Spirit, except her being convinced by a feeling. The voice identifies itself as Christ who is offering a revelation to prepare the Church for his return. She accepts it and takes no notice that the Scripture does not teach individual personal visitations of Jesus. This experience resembles the founder of Mormonism, Joseph Smith's vision with a light and Christ appearing and so many others. This cannot be the Jesus of the Bible, the reason is that Jesus is at the right hand of the Father until He returns for the whole church at once not appearances for individuals.

“Behold, My child,” Jesus said, “I am going to take you by My Spirit into hell so that you may be able to make a record of the reality of it, to tell the whole earth that hell is real, and to bring the lost out of darkness and into the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ”(p.15).

It was Jesus himself who preached on Hell. Do we really need a current revelation for anyone to believe its real. Why would Jesus need to do this when he always pointed to the words in Scripture when he was here and when He commissioned the apostles to write down his precepts and commands. Are THEY MISSING SOMETHING? The fact is Jesus spoke of the rich man who was asking for someone to be sent back for his family to be saved Lk. 16 the answer was NO. “Abraham said to him, 'They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. “And he said, 'No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent. “But he said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’”

She describes how “Instantly, my soul was taken out of my body. I went with Jesus up out of my room and into the sky...It was as though I had died and my body was left behind on the bed while my spirit was going with Jesus up through the top of the house. It seemed as though the whole roof was rolled back, and I could see my family asleep in their beds.”

This is an outer body experience that is quite familiar to those in the new age. The Bible teaches the body without the spirit is dead. Although she claims Jesus is beside her she is also claiming she was outside her body for 40 days.

She describes hell as “shaped like a human body lying in the center of the earth. The body is lying on her back, with both arms and both legs stretched out. As I have a body of believers, so hell has a body of sin and death.” “with many chambers of torment.”

(The Bible does teach variations of punishment and there are 3 compartments in hell, but what she describes is much different than the bibles descriptions). Something Jesus certainly never spoke of is its shape. Is it necessary to know this, what import would this serve? When Jesus spoke of us as his body it is a metaphor, she has interpreted it as literal and carries it over to a physical shape of the underworld!

“Screams filled the air as we came near the base of the tunnel. Piercing cries came up the dark tunnel to meet us. Sounds of all sorts filled the air. I could feel fear, death and sin all around me.”

“The worst odor I have ever smelled filled the air. It was the smell of decaying flesh, and it seemed to be coming from every direction. Never on earth had I felt such evil or heard such cries of despair. Soon I would find that these were the cries of the dead and that hell was filled with their wails” (p.18)

How in the world can one smell decaying flesh when this is a holding area for ones spirit, not their body that is in the grave. When one dies their body is put in the grave, not taken to hell with them. So this is proof she has a completely different understanding of what death is and it is not the truth spoken of in the Bible.

Other descriptions are just as fanciful, she describes strobe lights and ugly snakes were slithering about every, she saw were skeletal forms also was full of holes. Her bones were showing through, .. her torn dress was on fire (p. 31).

But Jesus never spoke about snakes or lights or a light show. He did say the worm does not die as an example of the state of corruption they will be in. But spirits who have bones and are dressed, I don't think so. The continuous descriptions are vivid and grotesque as she tours the place of torments by the side of Jesus. Much is suggestive of a frightening book by Stephen King and ones imagination can run wild to how far a person can suffer under the jurisdiction of Satan's domain.

“The things you are about to see are a warning,” He said. “The book you write will save many souls from hell. What you are seeing is real. Fear not, for I will be with you.”

This is clearly extra biblical revelation, the book you shall write will save souls. What about the book already written? The BIBLE. What of Jesus' warnings in the Bible, is this not sufficient.

'Remember to tell the people of earth that hell is real. Millions of lost souls are here, and more are coming every day” (p.34)

Jesus seems to depend on this woman to make real what He already said. But the Holy Spirit is to make real what He has said in Scripture, not someone else's words. This reminds me of Lk.16 with Lazarus and the rich man who asked about going back and Jesus said even if one comes back from the dead they will not believe. Although she is not dead, it can be put this way even if someone comes back from hell they will not believe. In this instance they will, but from her testimony

“Everywhere I looked were demons and devils. The biggest of these demons, I learned from the Lord, were getting their orders straight from Satan” (p.40)

Here we have Satan in hell -- which goes against what the Bible actually says. In Rev.12:9 “he (Satan) was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.” This did not occur yet since it is in the tribulation. Currently he is the prince and the power of the air (Eph.2) and when he is put in Hell he is in chains for 1,000 years. he does not have access in and out. So this is more likely a deception in whatever form of travel (out of body) she is receiving the message in. Luke 16:25-26 “And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us” If they couldn't go to the other side how can they go travel into the world of mankind?

She seeds a “A preacher who was about six feet tall, and his skeleton was a dirty, grayish color, like a tombstone. Parts of his clothing 'still hung on him. I wondered why the flames had left these torn and tattered clothes and had not burned them up. Burning flesh was hanging from him, and his skull seemed to be in flames. A terrible odor came from him” (p.41)

A skeleton with clothing, sounds like to many late nights with horror films. His flesh is burning! There is no flesh in hell, it is a holding place for those in spirit who eventually will be raised up to stand before Christ at the great white throne judgment.

“As we left, I saw another group of demons coming up to the coffin. They were about three feet high, dressed in black clothes, with black hoods over their faces. They were taking shifts tormenting this soul” (p.73)

Where does the Bible say such things. A coffin in hell, blood from a spirit who is immaterial. This is all nonsense.

Baxter is constantly being pulled out of hell and brought back. “The next night Jesus and I went into hell again” (p.77) So she is not left there but is like a light switch goes on and off she goes back and forth

“Satan still thinks he can overthrow God and disrupt God's plan, but he was defeated at the cross. I took the keys away from Satan, and I have all power in heaven and in earth.”

While the first part is true of Satan's defeat at the cross the 2nd is not. Again this is a distortion of Scripture and she is pouring in the current Charismatic view. Where in Scripture are we told that Satan ever had the keys to hell and Jesus confiscated them? She says in another place, Jesus said, “I took the keys of hell away from Satan many years ago. I came and opened these cells and let My people out.” We are told that Jesus possesses the keys (these symbolize authority) to death and Hades (Rev. 1:18). In other words no one goes there without his ruling. In fact the Bible says that hell was made for the Devil and his angels. Who made it? Jesus Christ.

According to Baxter Jesus freed people from hell. Nowhere does the Bible hint this, those in hell are still there. He freed those in paradise, this is called Abraham’s bosom, for those who died in the faith.

“For in the time of the Old Testament before I actually gave My life on the cross, paradise was situated close to hell. These cells were once in paradise; now Satan uses them for his evil purposes and has made more”(p.97). Paradise was divided by a chasm (Lk.16) but is not turned into an expansion of hell. It was relocated to heaven, Jesus says to the churches. “To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God”’ (Rev 2:7 and 1 Cor.12.)

She describes “After this woman died, she went straight to hell. The demons brought her before Satan, where in anger she asked why the demons had control over her, for on earth she thought she controlled them. There the had done her bidding” (p.92).

So Satan is in hell controlling it. This is nonsense and even when he is limited to hell he won’t be in control, the Bible says he will be tormented like anyone else.

Bible-Rev. 20:1-2 “ Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years” This occurs when Jesus comes back (Mt.25) this has not happened yet. So why would he be in a place of torture without the judgment of Christ, how did he get there?
Why would Paul write to “ Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” (Eph. 6:11) if he is in hell? How could people be taken captive by him (2 Tim 2:26) if he is captive?

The fact is “the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Pet 5:8) just as he did in Jobs day going to and fro upon the earth.

In fact this even has not happened, the Bible does not say he is in hell but has access to heaven still until the middle of the tribulation period v.6 of Rev.12.” the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him” (Rev 12:9)

“Jesus told me that there is a place in hell called the “fun center.” Souls confined to the pits cannot be brought there. He also told me that though torments are different for different souls, all are burned with fire.”

“When they were on earth, they deceived many and caused them to follow Satan and to sin. The ones who had been deceived and were caused to fall into sin came and tormented their deceivers. One by one they were allowed to torture them” (p.96)

If you believe this you can basically believe just about anything. The “fun center' is about torturing souls personally. Hardly a biblical precedent for this one. Since Satan and his demons are tortured themselves in hell. In Matt 25:41it records how Jesus separates the sheep from the goats and they are sent, “ into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.' In other words the devil is not torturing anyone he himself is, since this place was made for him and the rebellion. Another non biblical point is that one does not have to be deceived to fall into sin, for they are sinners already by being born.

“Fun center” it is not, 2 Pet. 2:4 “For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment”

On p.95 she writes at death the lost are immediately dragged down into hell tormented by demons. But she also states “Jesus said, “Let’s listen to what they’re saying. One man said to another, “Did you hear about this man Jesus who came to take away sin? Another responded, “I know Jesus. He washed my sins away. In fact, I don’t know what I’m doing here.”

That's a good question, what is he doing there? How are they able to have a conversation like this? Is there time out from torturing?

“Again, I will tell you that these cells, which are seventeen miles high, serve as a prison for those who once were Satan's workers of darkness” (p.97)

Here she describes something extra biblical, the Bible gives no measurements on the compartments. “As Satan moved his arms, great balls of fire shot from him.”

Satan is the torturer, but Jesus said he has the keys to death and hell he has the authority. Mmm! She also writes of Satan being the “King” that there “was written “Queen of Satan.” She does not identify her, but we do know that the Scripture DOES NOT say a thing on this and it would be ludicrous to believe that he is ruling with a queen in the very place he is to be punished in.

“I watched Satan as a reddish-yellow flame with brown edges grew all about him. A wild and gusty wind blew his garments which did not burn. The smell of burning flesh filled the air, and I realized anew that the horrors of hell are real. Satan walked through the flames, and they could not burn him. Though I only saw his back, I could hear his evil laughter everywhere”(p.99).

Did she need to see this to believe what God has already said! If Satan is in Hell he certainly would not be laughing. She also states...Tenderly Jesus spoke and said, “My child, hell is real. But you could never know for sure until you had experienced it for yourself” (p.112)

Here Jesus contradicts himself in the Scripture. You can’t know hell is real until you experience it yourself! Then how can she tell anyone about it! They would all have to experience it. This renders her revelation useless. Does this mean we can’t tell anyone hell is real because we have not experienced as she has? Does this mean we can' t know heaven is real unless we experience as well? All this points to her superior “Gnostic” revelation. Did the apostles experience hell? How did Jesus warn people of hell? Did He experience it?

“Ahead I saw a large black object, almost as big as a baseball field which seemed to be moving up and down. I remembered that I had been told this was “the heart of hell.”

“Coming out from this black heart were what looked like large arms or horns. They were coming out of it and going up and out of hell into the earth and over the earth. I wondered if these horns were the ones the Bible spoke about.”

“All around the heart, the earth was dry and brown. For about thirty feet in all directions, the earth had been burned and had dried to a rusty, brown color. The heart was the blackest of blacks, but another color like the scales of a snake's skin was intermixed with the black. An awful odor arose from the heart each time it beat. It moved as a real heart and beat up and down. An evil force field surrounded it.”

“In amazement I looked at this evil heart and wondered what was its purpose. Jesus said, “These branches, which look like arteries of a heart, are pipelines that go up through the earth to spill out evil upon it. These are the horns that Daniel saw, and they represent evil kingdoms on the earth. Some have already been, some shall be, and some are now. Evil kingdoms will arise, and the Antichrist will rule over many peoples, places and things. If possible, the very elect will be deceived by him. Many will turn away and will worship the beast and his image” (p.104-105).

These are not the horns that Daniel saw! How do we know this? The horns do not come out of Hell! Let the Bible speak (Dan.7:7). Dan 7:24 “The ten horns are ten kings who shall arise from this kingdom. And another shall rise after them; he shall be different from the first ones, and shall subdue three kings.”

This also contradicts her other revelation “The Lord said, “If the people of the earth will listen to Me and repent of their sins, I will hold back the workings of the Antichrist, and the beast till there comes a time of refreshing.” Throughout the book is the idea of time is running out, yet there are contradictory statements like this one. How can this be from the spirit of truth when it contradicts what is written?

“These are the words that Jesus spoke to me. He instructed me to write them and put them into a book and to tell them to the world. These words are true, These revelations were given to me by the Lord Jesus Christ so that all may know and understand the workings of Satan and the evil schemes he is planning for the future.”

Do we need her extra biblical revelation to know the future plans of Satan when we know the future plans of the Lord written in Scripture? Are these words really “true?” Could they be from ANOTHER Jesus?

Behold “I am preparing an holy army”...”This army,” said the Lord, which was spoken of by the prophet Joel, will arise from the land and do great works for God. The Son of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings. He shall tread down the wicked, and they shall be ashes under the soles of His feet.

“They shall be called the army of the Lord. I will give gifts unto them, and they will accomplish My mighty works. They shall do exploits for the Lord of glory. I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and daughters shall prophesy,

“This army shall fight against the forces of evil and shall destroy much of Satan's work. They shall win many to Jesus Christ before the day the evil beast arises,” said the Lord” (p.141-142)

What army may this be? When Jesus calls us servants not warriors. Gifts are given to every Christian, not to those in this army of Joel. What she is describing is a miracle army (known by those in the latter rain movement). Now we know what army this is, Joel's army. Oops-- read the book of Joel, this army is not saved, God destroys them in the end. So much for a divine revelation of their conquering for Jesus. This is proof of an influence from the current charismatic view she is involved with. Nowhere does the Bible teach the church will be triumphant in the end like this.

“Before these times I will raise up an army of believers that will stand for truth and righteousness. The mighty army that Joel spoke about will hear My voice from the rising to the going down of the sun.”

“In the night hours also they will hear My voice, and they will answer Me. They will work for Me, and they will run like mighty men of war. They shall do great works for Me, for I will be with them.” “All these things were revealed to me by the Lord Jesus Christ in an open vision” (p.171)

I thought she was taken to hell and experienced it. Oh well there really does not have to be any consistency to stories like these for those who are biblically illiterate.

This all sounds too similar to Rick Joyner’s army, and it very well could be from the same source! Questionable statements are strewn throughout the book such as “The Lord said, “If the people of the earth will listen to Me and repent of their sins, I will hold back the workings of the Antichrist, and the beast till there comes a time of refreshing.” Where does God promise this? Christians need to think biblically and not go on peoples visions or be influenced by spirit travels.

2 Thess. 2:3-8 the Antichrist cannot be revealed until the Church is raptured what is holding it back is the Holy Spirit yet she has Jesus telling her it is conditional on the people’s repentance.

The Days of Joel -I heard a voice say, “Write, for these things are faithful and true.” Again, I was with the Lord in the Spirit. He was high and lifted up, and His voice was like thunder.”

This is mockery of John the apostle’s book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ -- do we need anything else to be said.

As she is given a vision of the future “Jesus says come see what the Spirit is saying to the world” (p.163)

This is a counterfeit for Revelation, of hearing what “the spirit says to the churches.”

As she is brought to hell again she experiences it fully. “I looked at myself and saw that holes were beginning to appear all over my remaining flesh .I began to turn a dirty-gray color, and gray flesh fell off me. There were holes in my sides, my legs, my hands and my arms. I cried out, “Oh, no! I am in hell forever! Oh, no!”

Not too much confidence displayed in the Jesus who promised her protection. Yet she describes “I could see inside myself. I was only a dirty skeletal form, yet I could feel all that was happening to me. I saw others like myself.”

Saved souls are not like others in hell. We have a new nature.

I cried out in great pain, “0 Jesus Please help me, Jesus.” I wanted to die, but I could not. I felt the fire kindle again in my legs. I screamed, “Where are You, Jesus?” I rolled about on the ground and cried along with all the others” (p.176)

Isn’t this wonderful, now this Jesus who gives her a revelation is torturing her so she can know its real. Not much assurance for this saint or others.

An angel meets her and says, “Behold the power and might and majesty of God. Let me show you the place He has created for the children.”

All at once there was a large planet looming before us, a planet as large as the earth” (p.186)

Is heaven a planet? This is found only in today's frontier Charismatic literature.

The Lord explains what happens to aborted babies “... My angels go down and bring the children to Me when they die. I have a place where they can grow, learn and be loved. I give them whole bodies and restore whatever parts they are missing. I give them glorified bodies.”

“All over the planet there was a feeling of being loved, a sense of perfect well-being. Everything was perfect. Here and there amid the lush green grass and the pools of crystal clear water were playgrounds with marble seats and highly polished wooden benches to sit on.

I saw children learning the Word of God and being taught music from a golden book. I was surprised to see animals of all sorts coming up to the children or sitting beside them while they were in this angelic school” (p.188)

While this may bring comfort to those who have had abortions or children that have died it is again extra biblical. If heaven is a planet, one can only wonder why the Lord will remake planet earth again and bring his kingdom here if it is already somewhere else. Angelic school, playgrounds, animals are extra biblical revelation and more than questionable, but at least there are no angels on clouds with harps.

“Then the angel showed me another planet which glowed like a great light before me. The light shone with the radiance of a million stars, and everything on the planet was beautiful and alive.”

“In the distance I saw two mountains made of pure gold, while closer to me were two golden gates embedded with diamonds and other precious stones. I knew that this was the new earth and that the city which lay in splendor before me was the New Jerusalem-the city of God come down to earth.”

“And then I was back on the old earth-earth as it was before the final fires that would purge it and purify it for God’s glorious purpose. And here too was a new Jerusalem, the capital city of the millennium. And I saw people coming out of caves and from the mountains and making their way toward this city” (p.189)

Someone is confused here, because new Jerusalem does not come down until the end of the millennium. But she has two earth's each with a new Jerusalem. Well either the APOSTLE JOHN is correct or she is wrong or she is correct and John is wrong. You choose.

Rev 21:1-3: “Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.”

“And then I will return with My saints, and Satan will be cast into the bottomless pit, where he will remain for a thousand years. During that thousand years I will reign over the earth from Jerusalem. When the millennium is past, Satan will be released for a season, and I will defeat him by the brightness of My coming. The old earth will pass away” (p.190).

This is clearly mish mash of events, he returns and destroys him with His coming the first time 2 Thess.2:8, and then sets up the millennial reign (Mt.25; Rev.20.)

She even has a different story from Jesus about the resurrection. “I saw the coming of the Lord. I heard His call like the sound of a trumpet and the voice of an archangel. ...out of the graves came the righteous dead to meet their Lord in the air. For hours it seemed, I heard the horns blow . . . I heard the sound of trumpets again. As I watched, those who were alive and remained on the earth ascended to meet them.”

“He said, “Soon I will return and take back with Me to heaven first the righteous dead, then after them those that are alive and remain will be caught up to be with Me in the air.”

There is only one trumpet blown not many, the change is instantaneous not for hours, it is like blink of the eye in 1 Cor.15:52 (1 Thess.4:13-17, 1 Cor. 15:50-55) and it is all one event, not the dead brought to heaven first and then returning for those alive.

“High in the heavens I beheld a large spiritual body-it was the body of Christ. And the body was lying on its back on a bed, and blood dripped to the earth. I knew that this was the slain body of our Lord. And then the body grew larger and larger until it filled the heavens. And going into and out of it were the millions of the redeemed.”

How can the body of Christ be the slain body of the Lord when he died and rose again before he made body of Christ. How can this be the blood dripping to earth from a heavenly realm, on a bed no less?

“I watched in astonishment as millions climbed up stairs to the body and filled it, beginning with the feet and continuing through the legs, the arms, the stomach, the heart and the head. And when it was full, I saw that it was filled with men and women from every nation, people and tongue on the earth. And with a mighty voice they praised the Lord.”

“Millions were seated before a throne, and I saw angels as they brought the books from which judgment was read. There was the mercy seat, and rewards were given to many”(p.200).

Here she is given even more detail than John the apostle. This is certainly astounding since no woman was ever given any kind of prophecy or revelation like this except for Mary the mother of the Lord who had announced the Messiahs birth. What in the world is this? Millions go in and out of the body of Christ that fills the heavens! She is assigning a spiritual dimension with physical properties. When Paul spoke of us as his body it is a metaphor, she has interpreted it as literal and carries it over to a physical shape just as she describes hell as a body! Not to mention there is blood dripping from this body which is the church and she calls it Christ! No way would God be confused in giving revelation like this. Jesus died for us, there is no body (of Christ) bleeding in heaven. This is beyond the Bible, this is silly

On p.205 she states a vision of the throne where “On the throne was similarity of God.” No, on the throne is God not a similarity.

“I saw the angels busily cutting extremely large diamonds and placing them in the foundations of beautiful mansions. The diamonds were a foot thick and two feet long and very beautiful. Each time a soul is won for God, a diamond is added to the soulwinner's mansion. No labor is in vain when it is done for God” (p.207).

No kiddin’ where is this in Scripture? Again this is extra biblical teaching which sounds wonderful but can hardly true. It may be poetic but nowhere does the Bible teach such things.

On p.206 she sees “baby cherubim singing and kissing the Lord on his face.” The Bible always has angels appear as mature men, I think she has seen too many medieval paintings to be influenced by them.

When Jesus first appeared to me, He said, “Kathryn, you have been chosen by the Father to accompany me through the depths of hell. I will show you many things which I desire the world to know about hell and about heaven. I will tell you what to write so that this book will be a true record of what these unknown places are really like. My Spirit will reveal secrets about eternity, judgment, love, death and life hereafter.”

He wants us to know of things that he has not spoken about! That this will be a true record.”

What seemed to be overlooked is that this is now is going to add to the apostle Johns words, which He already pronounced as a curse if done. Rev.22:18

No prophet or apostle in the Old or New Testament has experienced this kind of trip or have had this revealed to them. Why now? Mrs. Baxter has open doors in numerous churches and from the audio tape (beside the book) I have listened to, she is passionate and convincing. Though her heart may be in the right place, to see people saved, it is clear from the Bibles perspective Mrs. Baxter comes short in understanding Scripture and how to interpret it. She has clearly already been influenced by the Christianity she practices. Unfortunately so many people have become Bible illiterate that they accept this as if it is in agreement with Holy Scripture. If we are to believe that the Lord showed and explained these things to her, then he has contradicted what He has already said. But it is clear that it is not the Lord that gave her this trip to the underworld (or heaven). And if this did actually happen then it can be more serious for her in following this Jesus and teaching others to do as well. I'm sorry but I cannot accept her vision or experience, not because of personal preference but because I must stand in agreement with the Word of God which contradicts her stories.
