Seeking signs wonders, miracles and prophetic utterances shows a lack of faith

We are told to seek his (God the sons) righteousness and not to seek signs. He called those who did a wicked, evil generation. So why is a good portion of the church disobeying this today? Because… we have two choices in this. 1) they do not care what the Bible actually says, or 2) they don’t know what the Bible say because they have been taught incorrectly. They listen to men over them, men who have an agenda and do not know the Scripture accurately. They focus on certain Scriptures and lift the Scripture out of context to conform it to what they want it to be, usually for self adulation.

What is their agenda, let me give a few obvious points. Power, control, prominence and the last objective, and certainly not the least – money. Yeah, its mostly money. Every spiritual gift often has the end result to give the person exercising it money, if they are greedy, coveting. While it costs money to proclaim the gospel in other lands and run ministries and churches, money is often used to better the living of the person that is supposed to be doing the work of the Lord without charge.

Jesus said the last sign of His (first coming) to the world would be the resurrection, it is the final proof of what he did and who He is. He spoke of this in many ways. This being the third point of the gospel. This is what we are to carry as the message and be able to explain why there is a gospel. But it is not proclaimed as such in our day, there are replacement messages.

Matt 26:7 “ a woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table.”

v.8 “they criticized her sharply” Not just Judas but others as well.

Mark 14:4-5 “ But there were some who were indignant among themselves, and said, "Why was this fragrant oil wasted? For it might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor." And they criticized her sharply.

Jesus said “She has done a good work for Me. For you have the poor with you always, and whenever you wish you may do them good; but Me you do not have always. She has done what she could. She has come beforehand to anoint My body for burial. Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her ." (Mark 14:6-9)

Jesus says this oil, was anointing him for burial, and it was connected to the gospel. Jesus was anointed at the beginning of his ministry and at at the end.

She gave the most expensive thing she had for him, and we are to do the same.

After his burial we read in Mark 16:1 “ Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, to anoint him after the sabbath was past. But he was already anointed for burial.” This was done by the woman who is to be remembered.

This woman’s actions seem to have been lost in history, still in scripture to be spoke of.

It was ‘Mary of Bethany’, the sister of Martha and Lazarus (Jn.11:1;12:3) whom Jesus raised from the dead. Quite significant how all the people coincide together in the story.
