               The Doctrine of God

First state what you and they believe to establish the difference. As Christians we believe God who always existed before anything was created became a man in Jesus Christ. As Mormons you believe man can become a god.

As a representative of your religion maybe you can explain to me how a creature can become something that was uncreated and always existed.

Questions to ask during the conversation

Why does the Bible teach in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. That this one God did all this alone?

Isa 42:5,12 "I have made the earth, and created man on it. I-- My hands-- stretched out the heavens, and all their host I have commanded."

So how is it possible for there to be another God if everything was created by him.

The Bible that is God’s word tells us this one God is the one who became man in Jesus Christ and it tells us that everything was made by him. So how could Jesus become a god [ or anyone else].

Col 1:16-17 “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

John 1:2-3 He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

The Bible does not teach Jesus was only spirit in heaven but is God.

In Heb.1:10 The Father speaking of the Son, “And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning has laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of your hands...

In Heb 1:10, and the Father addresses the Son as eternal the Creator of all things, and being immutable unable to change as Malachi says I the Lord do not change.

If your Jesus is one of many in a spirit family can you see the difference of Mormonism claiming him to be a created being, (and cannot be God) and the bible saying he is God the creator of all things?

This means you have a different Jesus than the prophets that prophesied of his coming in the Old Testament and the Apostles and prophets who knew him personally wrote of in the New Testament.

Would not this be what Paul wrote about worshipping a creature as God (read Rom.1:25 out loud)

Deut 4:39 consider it in your heart, that the LORD Himself is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other.

God being the only God, is something he affirmed to Israel over and over. Isa. 45:5 I am the LORD, and there is no other; there is no God besides Me.” V.6 I am the LORD, and there is no other.” Isa 45:18"I am the LORD, and there is no other.”

This one God became man- who is our savior. God is our savior-this is different from Jesus the angel becoming man and then becoming exalted to be God.

Isa 45:21 “And there is no other God besides Me, a just God and a Savior; there is none besides Me.

Isa 45:22 "Look to Me, and be saved, all you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.

Isa 43:10-11 “understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, nor shall there be after Me. I, even I, am the LORD, and besides Me there is no savior.

Jesus said in John 5:39 that they search the Scriptures for in them you think you have eternal life but they testify of me.”(v.39) Are we to believe the Scriptures testify of an angel who became a human being and became God in the end of the discourse Jesus says in vs.46-47 “If you believed Moses you would believe Me; for he wrote about me. But if you don’t believe his writings, how will you believe my words?” Jesus used the Old Testament to prove that it was accurate in its prophecy. If you don’t believe in the accuracy of the Old Testament you will not be able to believe Jesus of the New Testament.
