Sun Myung Moon, the leader of the Unification church meets Jesus Yes this time its for real, he died early Monday morning in South Korea at the age of 92. Hebrews 9:26-27:... "but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment" His youngest son is appointed successor of the Unification church that claims up to 3 million followers worldwide, 100,000 members residing in the US.Moon born in 1920 said Jesus appeared to him as a child, thus making him like an apostle. In 1954, Rev. Moon founded his movement beginning with anti-communist causes he then promoted interfaith peace activities among many religions, his intent was to bring together people of different faiths and have them hear his revelation of Jesus. He was particularly welcomed in certain evangelical circles even though he challenged the purpose of Jesus' death on the cross.Moon was known as a strong advocate for marriage because of his revelation that Jesus failed, and he was appointed to complete the mission by creating the true family. So he introduced his own holy book called the Divine Principle. Moon mocked and challenged nearly every bible doctrine he possibly could on Jesus. For example where it says He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him" (Revelation 1:7). Moon said one cannot literally "ride on the clouds" even though Jesus rose to heaven and we are told he would return the same way. Moon said the messiah must be born in the east (this has been used by many cults)Moon believed internationalism not a sovereignty of each nation. He spoke of how U.N. non-governmental organizations "can represent all humanity -- through which God can come and reign." Rev. Moon wrote of himself in his 2009 autobiography, “As a Peace-Loving Global Citizen.” Besides his religious visions and revelations, Moon was a businessman who was outspoken on the free press. Rev. Moon founded newspapers, magazines, electronic media outlets in the U.S as well as countries all over the world, controlling hundreds of organizations. He looked at himself as being opposed just as Jesus was opposed by the establishment to justify his self proclaimed mission. As a founder of a new religion nearly everything was interpreted by him as being against his new revelation as they reacted to Jesus when he introduced his new revelation. He eventually claimed himself to be the Messiah; Lord of the Second Advent" who was to provide the "physical salvation." Jesus was only able to give humanity "spiritual salvation," and was prevented from accomplishing this because he was executed and didn't marry (This was his weak and flawed argument for someone who resurrected and stayed on earth for over 40 more days). He convinced his followers he was their parent, a savior for the world. His followers loved him and worked tirelessly around the world, others accused him of using brainwashing on those he recruited. This was seen by him conducting mass weddings (thousands at a time starting in the1970’s). As the true parent he made them into "a perfect trinity with God." He brought people together that often never met and gave them a false hope that Rev. Moon knew something they did not, they were trust him on this. After all he was the Lord of the Second Advent. I’m sure there will be many wonderful things said of this man who spoke to dignitaries all over the world, and had people go door to door into the night and sell flowers on the side of the road to fund his organizations goals. But I have nothing good to say and neither do so many others who know how serious it was to battle for the truth against a man who amassed such wealth and influence and attacked the Bible by his own self importance. He will be remembered on a lawless list of men throughout history that challenged God and his work through his Only Son. We can hope some of his followers (Moonies) will understand that the new moon as still an absence of light. |
