Losing my Discernment 

or

I left my mind and Bible outside the door of the church

We have all probably heard of the song by a secular music group called losing my religion. Well the church is singing a new song too; it’s called “losing my discernment.” This one is obviously sung out of tune. How many times have you heard someone say the Bible also tell us not to judge? God knows how to take care of the problem. God doesn’t NEED you, to handle this problem for him, he will judge. With this attitude one can deduce he does not need us to evangelize, help those in need and we need not pray or be active in anything? After all God can solve all things by Himself. But He doesn’t always. He will use saved men and women to further His purposes.

There are enough Scriptures that are avoided on this subject to prove this to be wrong. That God wants the church to a certain extent work out is problems. But like little children so many say nothing.
Paul writes, For first of all, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it. For there must also be factions among you, that those who are approved may be recognized among you. (1 Cor. 11:18-19 )

The church that claims to be spiritually gifted, has for the most part become liberal. Instead of keeping to the fundamental doctrines they abandon them for personalities on TV. This is why you will hear the most asinine statements attributed as revelation from God.

One of the ways we lose our discernment when we make excuses for false teachers. We rationalize that the good they are doing outweighs their bad, therefore we compromise and accept the whole package. When we start listening to other men’s word and we stop checking it with The Word we are open to the lies not the truth. If we are not in the Word daily and promoting it in our lives, we will succumb to every trap the enemy schemes and lays at our feet. And he is very busy as of late, his quiver of arrows is being emptied at the church. The one of non- judgmentalism and tolerance is one of the biggest traps yet.

The word of God is proactive and reactive. It is to instruct and guide but it also is to seek error and expose it, to convict and rebuke something that raises its ugly head against the truth. And that means leaders and workers in the church must speak up specifically on issues that affect our lives. that is what a true shepherd does, not a hireling who only wants the blessings and the money.

The Hegalian dialectic HAPPENS TO BE THE MOST POPULAR MODEL OF THINKING TODAY. Instead of a didactic way to think that helps us come to the right conclusions we circumnavigate the truth. Instead of having truth be absolute and objective many are practicing a postmodern mindset REACHING HOMOGENIZED CONCLUSIONS. Christ told us the greatest commandment is to love the Lord our God with our whole heart, soul, and mind. Do you love Him with your mind? Or have you listened to these devious men who tell you not to use your mind.

Lets look at what this new unbiblical tolerance is doing to our spiritual mind.

Today one can believe Jesus was only a prophet, a man and a great teacher, but doesn’t have to be God in the flesh to be a Christian. Since this is one of the core doctrines of Christianity it actually makes them a non-Christian. But it doesn’t seem to matter anymore, all one has to do is believe in Jesus. One only needs to say Jesus is their savoir and never really know what He saved them from or who He actually is. That’s LIBERALISM

What you now commonly hear people from peoples mouths are “we should not judge,” “they are part of the church,” or to stop questioning. They repeat the worn out cliché’ “don’t touch the anointed, leave God’s prophets alone.” GROW UP! We are told it is the mature that are spiritual and rightly judge Heb.5:13. those who are carnal and babes do not judge.

What we don’t hear is--Did you just hear what he said, that's not in the bible that goes against it? Few will react this way; many do not even grasp what some of the false teachers are actually saying because they do not pay attention. It's like they are half deaf and see nothing. “I never heard him say that in 20 years,” they say.  Their listening level is minimal, they are not trained to REALLY listen carefully as they do not know what the word of God actually means to be discerning. They listen for the sugar (blessings) and ignore the wheat (challenges and truth). Tell me something sweet and leave the roughage out. What a diet to live by, they are malnourished unable to have the strength to resist or react.

Let’s go over some of the common things said today and see if you have life in you to react to them. See if you repeat the mantra of do not judge after each statement.

Jesus became sin on the cross and then went to hell to complete the atonement, was tortured by demons for our salvation.

After 3 days the spirit of God came into his emaciated being and revived him; so he became the first reborn man again in hell.

Jesus was really a rich man, not poor. He even had a treasurer. He didn’t go to his house because he was so busy on the road. He had lots of money, the finest clothes and homes and that’s why we all should be rich too, we follow Jesus.

The anointing comes when the healing crusade comes to the city. Afterwards it all goes back to normal and those who want to be healed have to wait for the next meeting when the healer comes.

The anointing was so powerful on the program when he spoke but we need to act when he was there or we will not receive the promises under the anointing

If you do not give your 10% you are robbing God, and you are cursed and the Holy Spirit will leave you.

If someone speaks in tongues don’t worry about an interpretation, what counts is that the devil can't understand what is said. Even though you can’t understand it either you allow the tongue they’re praying in without any interpretation.

You need to claim the Scripture by his stripes I’m healed. Say it out loud over and over again till you get it in your spirit and really believe it. It is the power of your belief combined with the word that will change things.

A prophecy can fail, but not to worry, its not false, it was a prophecy that was be averted by prayer because all prophecy is conditional upon our prayers.

We can have gay and lesbian leaders in the church and ordain them to ministry because God is love and we have a new understanding of the Bible.

We can unite with anyone who has the same goals to accomplish the task as long as they call themselves a Christian and say they love  Jesus.

Want to have God’s abundance, want to have God’s blessings? Sow a seed, a big seed into ____ ministry even if you don’t have it, just vow it and give when the money comes into your hands. Or you can put it on your credit card even if your trying to get out of debt.

Someone gets up in church and tells a story about an angel who came to them last night and took them to heaven or hell and have a completely different revelation that what the Bible says,  it is to be accepted as God’s truth on the basis of who they are and being sincere.

Someone can say Heaven is much like earth and we should not be concerned because everyone is going to go there. Only the Christians will have a better place there than the rest.

You can hear a famous teacher say I’m a little god…a little messiah, and so are we are all gods because he tells you that’s what it says in the Scripture.

The pastor has the congregation repeat after him numerous times scriptures out of context and even non-scriptures as they do group affirmations.

Don't pray for God's will because that is not a prayer of faith. You ask for whatever you want and believe for it because God's will says YES.

If you are slain in the spirit it must be of God because feels so good and wonderful. How could it be wrong since it happened in the church and not everything supernatural is written in the Bible.

We are told these are all new things God is doing so it does not matter if they are not in the bible, the Spirit is doing a NEW work

We can go to a meeting have the teacher pass God’s spirit to whomever he wants by touch or the wave of his hand and then leave all the people on the floor looking like a war zone.

If you don't speak in tongues you're not really a Christian! You have not been baptized by the Holy Spirit, you don't have the Spirit.

You can judge those outside the church but if you say something is wrong inside you are divisive and are to leave them alone even if they are saying the same thing as the cults and other religions do.

You hear it said that If you leave our church you will no longer have the anointing, you will be forsaken of God.

You can go to your Christian Bookstore and see them selling books that are non - Christian and even against Christianity, but that doesn’t matter we are to love everyone and everything.

Did Joseph Smith, Mormonism’s prophet, make a mistake or was it heresy?

Did Charles Russell start a cult called the Jehovah’s Witnesses or were they from God? How do you know?

Are the miracles of Maharishi Mahesh yogi or other guru's authentic? Why not? How do you know?

Are psychics power that see the future like the seers in the Bible? Why not? How do you know.

Have you ever thought about any of these statements you have heard from famous men and women?

Are you still saying not to judge and then judge others who judge correctly by the Bible the way we are told to?

Did the apostles do the many things we see today in the church?

Did Jesus say anything about deception in the end of time? What did he say to the church? (find a portion of it in Matthew 24)

Have you ever done a personal Bible study on the last days deception and all the statements of Jesus and the apostles on it?

Have you ever heard the story about the pied piper? What happened.

Do you now see why it is important to make a decision on what is right or wrong. 

Edmund Burke said that “the only thing necessary for evil men to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” 

If you know something is wrong and evil and you do not speak up on it then you have no love for people, your love has grown cold. James calls it a sin of omission.

Can you be for the truth and not stand against known falsehood at the same time? Can you answer this with a yes or no?

Are you bothered by what I wrote on all these issues that are taking place inside the church? Are you angry at me. Why?

Remember to live by your own philosophy- Not that there is anything wrong with that- we should NOT judge. This means you cannot judge those who disagree with you or you become a hypocrite.

People will have three different types of reactions to these things, you will be one of them:

1) Someone does not notice anything and does not care to; they do not want to hear from anyone that something could be wrong.

2) The other person notices what is wrong but justifies what is said because of loyalty to a man or woman and not God.

3) Another is the person that is balanced and willing to pursue the truth wherever it may take him. He listens carefully and checks his understanding by the Scripture and is willing to pursue correction for himself as well as follow the truth at any cost. And it is this person God will bless.

The only choice any of us have is to judge, by the Bible, just as it tells us to. 

Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. (Rom 16:17)
