Whose name is above all names?

Ephesians 1:20-21: which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,  far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

CNN recently reported Authorities in Malaysia seizing more than 20,000 Bibles in recent months because they refer to God as "Allah," Christian leaders said Thursday. The Bibles were written in the country's official language, Malay, the word for God is "Allah," as it is in Arabic. Among the confiscated Bibles were those from the Bible Society of Malaysia that had imported them from Indonesia along with about 10,000 others from Gideon’s International.

The difference is that Malaysia's government says the Arabic word for God is exclusive to Islam. They banned its use because they see this as a means of confusion to Muslims, concerned that it can draw them to Christianity. On the other hand, this is a confusion to Christians, and we should be just as concerned. Using this Arabic word can have them think Allah is the same God of the Bible. On this point Malaysia's government position that the word Allah is exclusive to Islam is correct. Many of us have voiced our concerns of this converging religious unity by the name used for God, which is a matter of convenience at best; at worst an appeasement for the Christians that live in Muslim countries. When a church uses the name of another religions God who is far different then their own, they are always opening the door to a diminished understanding of the God of the Bible. In this matter it is clear, Allah is not YHWH who chose the Jews who loves them and sent the prophets by them, gave them Israel, sending the savior who fulfills their prophecies by his death for sin to rise again on the third day. This to a Muslim is apostasy and a religious crime, making one an infidel.

The Malaysian constitution provides for freedom of religion. However, in their country Islamic courts operate alongside civil ones. Malaysia has had numerous inter-faith disputes and many non-Muslims complain that the civil courts generally give control over to Islamic courts.

As in other places where Islam is dominant Muslims cannot convert to other religions. Those who do have those who uphold Sharia law to contend with, often in risk of their lives. Pray for the brethren to keep themselves separate from the cultures influence they live in and to stand up for their faith without compromising the word.

Rev. 3:8: I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.”

The day is coming when God will be known to all throughout the world and there will be no confusion to those He has saved from all corners of the earth.

Isa 12:3-6: “ Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. And in that day you will say: "Praise the LORD, call upon His name; declare His deeds among the peoples, make mention that His name is exalted. Sing to the LORD, for He has done excellent things; this is known in all the earth. Cry out and shout, O inhabitant of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel in your midst!”
