Is the Bible written by man or by God? Many today look at the Bible with a humanist viewpoint. That the Scripture is written by men that meant well and wanted a higher moral ethical standard for their culture. So it was not God who necessarily communicated to certain men he picked throughout history. This view of moral and spiritual relativism has no creator over mankind so there can be no absolute truth to be communicated or obeyed. Man then becomes the final authority on these matters and shaped his culture, society and religion accordingly, A recent poll taken found that 67 percent of Americans believe there is no such thing as absolute truth. Many of these would consider themselves Christian. This should take into account that although the majority of Americans believe in God (98%) but they live more like spiritual agnostics. They consider God to exist but He has no influence on them or the world directly or indirectly. Everything becomes relative by the measure of their feelings, likes and dislikes. God then becomes made in mans image. Living by relative truth stops human beings in their personal pursuit of truth and neutralizes their moral growth. A personal freedom of choice cannot exist without consideration of what is really true. Moral truth, spiritual truth has to come from a greater source than mankind God has indeed communicated to us Spiritual truth, which, by its nature, has to be absolute. The unchangeable Word of God is grounded in the God who is perfect, holy and never changes. If we do away with God’s absolute truth, all we are left with is man’s opinions. There is truth and there is falsehood, one cannot find what they are wrong in unless they have an ultimate standard. People who argue that all religions are equally valid show how little they know about the various religions. One only needs to do a surface level examination of the world religions to find irreconcilable differences, there are insurmountable differences with the numerous contradictions ingrained among them.. Some religions adhere to monotheism (one God), others to polytheism (many Gods). These two belief systems are incompatible. One who claims that one religion is exclusively true is often accused of being dogmatic and narrow-minded. But the facts remain, only one religious worldview is true and the rest are false. They all can’t be true. And there is proof by history, archeology, manuscript evidence, and prophecy. Unlike any other book the Bible is God breathed, he used various men's personality's writing down what he wanted to communicate. God did not dictate the writings (excluding the tablets to Moses) but he inspired the words superintending what was being written so that what was written was exactly what He wanted to say. Each writer had their own style so it does not preclude human personality. The Bible is His complete revelation to man of himself and mans condition. The Bible does contain the Word of God; it is the Word of God. Thus we have infallibility" which means "the Bible is accurate in every topic which it speaks of. It is also inerrant, which means there is no false statement or fact in the original writings. That makes the Bible truthful and trustworthy on all that it speaks on. "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" 2 Timothy 3:16. Ps 119:160: “The entirety of Your word is truth, and every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.” Jesus said that His words would remain eternal: Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words shall not pass away (Matthew 24:35). Over 2500 times the Bible says Thus saith the Lord The Bible is not only the most popular book ever read but the most unique above all other so called Holy Book's. It's written by over 40 different author's of various vocations, from fishermen to kings. Written on various continent's over a period of nearly1600 yrs. they all agree upon the nature of God - man - and it's world view. You will find the other religious books are written by either one person or in one time. They will have no prophecy to validate the authorship. And many do not have any manuscripts to prove when or where they were written. The superiority of the Bible in this is unprecedented. The Lord says there is “none like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, 'My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure.” (Isa. 46:9-10) This is how God describes Himself— by prophecy. One can prove he is not man because of what was written in advance in details on history that has already taken place and that which has not. A.W. Tozer: “We can hold a correct view of the truth only by daring to believe everything God has said about Himself. It is a grave responsibility that a man takes upon himself when he seeks to edit out of God's self-revelation such features as he in his ignorance deems objectionable.” |
