The Fathers Approval

In obedience to the law, Mary brought Jesus to the Temple after her purification. There was a man named Simeon, “And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ. So he came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law, he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said: "Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, according to Your word; For my eyes have seen Your salvation”(Luke 2:26-30).

Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, "Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against (yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed" (Luke 2:34-35).

When Jesus ministry time had come, revealed to his people. It became a point of division where he had explained "Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword." For I have come to 'set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law';"and 'a man's enemies will be those of his own household.'(Matt 10:34-36),

This division continues today at an even grander scale as so much is challenged and contended by the world who are against Him. Even the church will ignore His teachings to have favor with the culture. Was He who he said he was, was He from God, did He do what God wanted?

Jesus grew up quietly, devoted to God until he was about 30 years old (the age of a priest) to have himself revealed to his people by the son of a priest, John the baptizer.

Matt 3:17 “And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." From the beginning God spoke of Jesus as his chosen one to serve whom he is fully pleased with.

The Father showed His approval when the Holy Spirit was seen at His baptism coming upon him as a dove and resting upon Him for his whole ministry and God speaking from heaven, announcing this to those present at his baptism by John.

Again in Matt 12:18 "Behold, My Servant whom I have chosen, my Beloved in whom My soul is well pleased! I will put My Spirit upon Him, and He will declare justice to the Gentiles.”

Mary affirmed that that her brother Lazarus who recently died will be resurrected on the last day. Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.”( John 11:25) He said of himself "Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. "No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father." Therefore there was a division again among the Jews because of these sayings.” (John 10:17-19)

Nearly everything Jesus did caused a division among the people, the very ones who had the word of God delivered to them. The reason; they listened to men who added to the words and reinterpret them for the people.

It was the Father who sent the Son to earth on a rescue mission that continues today.

Jesus states, “For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of HIM WHO SENT ME” (John 6:38)

John 5:36-37 "… for the works which the Father has given Me to finish-- the very works that I do-- bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me. "And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form.”

Everything Jesus did was to accomplish the Fathers will on earth for man, he continually affirmed Jn.7:29 “I am from him and he has sent me.” Jn.8:42 “I proceeded forth and came from God, nor have I come of myself but he sent me.”

At the Transfiguration where Jesus revealed God’s glory within him and was seen upon him, the Father spoke again, “While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!" Matt 17:5) 2 Peter 1:17-18: “For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory:”

Luke 9:30-31 “And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.”

God’s glory seen from within him and coming upon him engulfing the others to show the Fathers approval of what He was sent to do. This is what is being discussed with Moses and Elijah.

The Father gave the Son the mission, he was the only begotten son the God man

God saw all mankind in Adam, and after he sinned needing a savior. John 1:14 “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” God’s glory was seen in Jesus by his words and actions.

Again as the time drew near for his purpose to be fulfilled. John 12:27-33 "Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save Me from this hour'? But for this purpose I came to this hour. "Father, glorify Your name." Then a voice came from heaven, saying, "I have both glorified it and will glorify it again." Therefore the people who stood by and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, "An angel has spoken to Him." Jesus answered and said, "This voice did not come because of Me, but for your sake. "Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out."And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself." This He said, signifying by what death He would die.”

After the last Passover with his disciples Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: "Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You,"as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. "I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do." And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was”(John 17:1-5).

The Father is glorified in His Son by what He is going to do, go to the crucifixion. All that was spoken of this event would be fulfilled. Isa 53:10 “Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; he has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin”

As Jesus was hanging on the cross He pronounced it is finished, the veil in the Temple was ripped showing God’s approval of the death of His only Son.

Heb. 10:12 “But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God” (Heb. 8:1). Not only was Jesus a man but “who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.” (Heb. 1:3). He alone is deserving of this place of prominence, the right hand of God.

Eph. 1:20-23 “which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.”

Phil. 2:9-10 “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”

We are offered the glorious gospel of the blessed God (1 Tim 1:11). Paul writes, He died for us while we were not only sinners (Rom.5:8) but enemies (v.10). We can repent and can become friends with our creator who went to great lengths to make this possible.

The most precious thing we have is our life, Jesus laid down his life willingly and the Father approved of this because He approved of His sinless life.

1 Cor. 1:21 “For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

1 Cor. 1:25 “Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men”

1 Cor. 2:14 “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

It’s the cross (crucifixion) that is foolishness to mankind (1 Cor.1:18) that is why we preach Christ crucified, it destroys all the philosophies and false spirituality of man. He died and was raised from the dead; Passover and first fruits is the essential celebration for those who spiritually minded and are no longer natural.
