What will YOU give for your own soul? A question of death and life

Jesus asked this and it one of the more important questions that can be asked of everyone

Mark 8:36-37 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?

"Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? (also Matthew 16:26)

People get offended when someone says something untrue or hurtful about them. They are offended when someone takes advantage of them and they lose something. But at the same time they are unconcerned for their own soul, which is their greatest possession.

People gamble away their only true possession, the one that will not perish when they die. They consider all the things they gather in life what life is about, they often consider these “things” more important. Jesus said

"Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses"(Luke 12:15)

There is a struggle taking place that involves every persons soul on an everyday basis. Without being righteous, having integrity we do wrong, we are wicked and oppose Gods best.  This righteousness can only be transferred by faith

Hab. 1:4 “Therefore the law is powerless, and justice never goes forth. For the wicked surround the righteous; therefore perverse judgment proceeds.”

Exod. 23:1 “You shall not circulate a false report. Do not put your hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.” V.7 "Keep yourself far from a false matter; do not kill the innocent and righteous. For I will not justify the wicked.”

How does one know if they are twisted (wicked) Ps. 7:14 “Behold, the wicked brings forth iniquity; yes, he conceives trouble and brings forth falsehood.”

Ps 37:32 “The wicked watches the righteous, and seeks to slay him".

Ps 36:1-4 “An oracle within my heart concerning the transgression of the wicked: there is no fear of God before his eyes. For he flatters himself in his own eyes, when he finds out his iniquity and when he hates. The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit; he has ceased to be wise and to do good.He devises wickedness on his bed; he sets himself in a way that is not good; he does not abhor evil"

Ps 10:2 -3“The wicked in his pride persecutes the poor; let them be caught in the plots which they have devised.” For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire; he blesses the greedy and renounces the LORD. They plot against the righteous and those who want to do good.”

All that you did in business, all your riches will be gone on that day, but not your soul.

Some say “we cannot know, someday we may.” They are gambling letting it all ride hoping it will turn well.

Most would not gamble their home, their savings or anything they have worked for but they unknowingly are gambling their soul.

Is everything they have worth more than they are? These are often the answers from atheists or agnostics who live by the, “who knows worldview.  What will you do when its time to go? You cant fight for your soul then, As Solomon said “No one has power over the spirit to retain the spirit, and no one has power in the day of death. “(Eccl 8:8)

Most speak of a question of life or death Im asking the question  that pertains to death or life.

Because Jesus said when you die you can still live, you can have a better quality of life than you do now. Its been said you cant take it with you but there are things you can send ahead. These are the spiritual works you did for Christ, that become your rewards after you life on earth. These will be with you throughout eternity.

Prov. 8:36 “But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul; all those who hate me love death." Do you love life or death? Jesus wants to give you eternal life, he asks you to repent, turn from your ways of living for yourself to living through Him.

Prov. 15:32-33 “He who disdains instruction despises his own soul, but he who heeds rebuke gets understanding. The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom, and before honor is humility.”

What happens when we have possession of our own soul, we have peace, no guilt (there is no peace for the wicked Isa.48:22; 57:21)
