The Testimony of the Resurrection by Angels and Men

We should always pay attention to the details of the Scripture when trying to argue a disputed point that involves a core doctrine. The Scriptures are clear on this matter and we should let it plainly and literally speak to us to explain the timing of Jesus' resurrection.

Luke 24:4-8 “And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, "Why do you seek the living among the dead? "He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, "saying, 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.'" And they remembered His words.”

These angels understood what day Jesus rose.

Luke 24:15-21 “So it was, while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them. But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him. And He said to them, "What kind of conversation is this that you have with one another as you walk and are sad?" Then the one whose name was Cleopas answered and said to Him, "Are You the only stranger in Jerusalem, and have You not known the things which happened there in these days?" And He said to them, "What things?" So they said to Him, "The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a Prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, "and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to be condemned to death, and crucified Him."But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened.

Its the 3rd day. What’s Jesus doing here, doesn’t he know He still has one more day to be in the grave before he can rise!  He’s supposed to wait for the complete 3rd 24 hour period to be seen.

Jesus explained this as well: Luke 24:45-46: “And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. Then He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day.”

Acts 10:39-40 “And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on a tree.” Him God raised up on the third day, and showed Him openly.”

1 Cor 15:3-4: “For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”
One can push the day back to Thursday so that it was not a Friday crucifixion but they still have to deal with the precise statements written and inspired by the Holy Spirit to explain the timing of the resurrection.

The apostles bore testimony of what day Jesus rose from the dead. These are the testimonies of Christ's resurrection. We should agree with Scripture and not men’s organized theologies to prove their points. This way we can speak the truth. for Jesus himself said:

Matt 16:21: “From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day” (Mt.17:23;20:19)

Luke 9:22: “The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day”(Lk.18:33;)

What if one were to hold to Jesus rising from the dead 5 days after; how about 1 day after. Would these be accurate? Selah
