*Can your body be in hell with your spirit? What is the first resurrection? Matt 10:28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell (see also Luke 12:4-5) How does your body after its put in the grave get in hell with your spirit? In the Greek the word body and soul are not in the text it literally reads Fear the after he has been died has the power to cast into hell , i say unto you fear Him! Hell is a temporary holding place for those in unbelief. What Jesus is referring to is the 2nd resurrection, when all are raised bodily before the white throne Judgment they are cast into the lake of fire? The faithful who died in the tribulation (tribulation saints) are judged and raised, this is part of the First Resurrection, it is for believers only. There is still another resurrection separated by at least 1,000 years. The 2nd resurrection is for unbelievers only. Rev. 20:5-6 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power. The believers have already appeared before the judgment seat of Christ and received their rewards. There is another resurrection that damns the sinner. Rev 2:11 He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death. Rev 20:5-6 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years. Rev 20:11-15 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. Rev .21:8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. All unbelievers from when time began are resurrected put back in their bodies and then judged according to their works and put in the final place- the lake of fire in which they will suffer in both their soul and body forever and ever. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences (2 Cor. 5:10-11.) |
